Byzance Arabians and Performance Horses is a small stud nestled on 70 hectares farm of green pasture in the Pongakawa valley, beautiful region of Bay of Plenty near Te Puke, New Zealand. We graze also dairy heifers.

We breed selectively to a limited number of quality mares for foals that exhibit good conformation, type, temperament and trainability. Young stock available for inspection and sale will suit the most discerning of purchasers.

We aim to breed a horse with size, good bone and stamina, pretty but still practical, suitable for show, pleasure, endurance and performance, a horse which can compete and win in a wide range of disciplines.

We will be focusing in 2 breeding programmes:

In one hand we have carefully selected a small group of purebred and partbred Arabian mares for their quality, type and bloodlines to breed tall Arabians and palomino and buckskin partbred Arab high % Arabian in blood for the show ring and endurance. We focus on El Shaklan and Ralvon Pilgrim bloodlines.

In the other hand we have chosen well conformed saddle horses of mainly warmblood, warmblood x TB and Stationbred breeding to produce the performance horse of the new century with the added bonus of the palomino and buckskin colours. We have also decided to follow the Dutch Warmblood breeding programme and now adopted in the USA and include the American Saddlebred breed in both Arabian and Warmblood breeding as we think American Saddlebreds will contribute to produce the Ultimate Sporthorse for elegance and versatility.

We are proud to breed coloured partbred Arabians because they are unique. The dilute gene doesn't occur naturally in the Arabian breed but with elaborate crosses with other breeds where the dilute gene is present we get the coloured Arabian, high % Arab in blood as close as possible as a purebred. Coloured Arabians can enter different classes in a single show.

Future purchases of tall Arabians, palomino partbred Arabians, coloured sporthorses and American Saddlebreds will constitute the foundation of Byzance stud breeding strategy.
